Our Crisis

Without Additional funding we will have to close

Reefton Who Cares cannot keep the doors open for less than $72,000 per annum. Lotteries Committee could only grant us $30,000, as the applications for funding exceeded their grant funds available for distribution by more than 1.5 million dollars.

The $72,000 is to pays for our 2 part time staff members wages, rent, power, phone, internet and insurances. These are our essential operating costs, the bare minimum we need to keep the doors open. This doesn’t even cover the cost of running our transport service.

The funding options for operational costs are unfortunately very limited, with Lotteries Community Grant scheme being one of only sources of funding for these type of costs.

What Can You Do To Help

If the business’ and major employers of Reefton and the surrounding area could commit to making an annual donation of up to $2000 each, to keep our doors open, that would go a long way to helping meet the shortfall.

And the individual residents of the area could commit to a minimum of $10 per week recurring, to help to address the funding shortfall.

Any and all donations will make a significant difference.

We need to know by the end of November what commitments the community can make in order for us to plan and see if we can survive.
